In the past, as winter approached, I often struggled with seasonal depression, feeling a familiar heaviness settle in. This year, however, I’ve noticed a significant shift. My commitment to movement practices—like yoga, dance, and stretching—has helped alleviate the usual symptoms.

When I reflect on my journey with depression, I often think about how deeply it can settle in our bodies. It’s not just a mental struggle; it manifests physically, weighing us down and leaving us feeling fatigued and disconnected. I remember those days when simply getting out of bed felt like an insurmountable task. It was during this challenging time that I discovered the transformative power of movement.

Understanding that depression often resides in our muscles and can weaken our immune system and metabolism was a revelation for me.
