How Ayurveda Medicine Transformed My Life: A Personal Journey

“Ayurveda teaches us to cherish our innate-nature “to love and honor who we are”, not as what people think or tell us, “who we should be.”

In my personal health journey, Ayurveda medicine has played a significant role in helping me overcome various challenges and ailments. Through the practice of Ayurveda, I have experienced a profound transformation in both my physical and mental well-being.

Here are five ways Ayurveda medicine has helped me to overcome obstacles and lead a more fulfilling life.

1. Chronic Sinus Infections: Since childhood, I struggled with frequent sinus infections and ear issues. However, after incorporating Ayurvedic practices such as using Nasya oil, daily self-Abhyanga, and ear oil treatments into my routine, I have been able to boost my immunity and ward off sinus infections effectively. It's remarkable that I have not experienced a sinus infection since 2017, thanks to Ayurveda's holistic approach to health.

2. Low Back Pain: Dealing with excruciating back pain due to scoliosis in my lower back was a challenging experience back in 2016. Through the application of Mahanrayana oil, steam therapy, and Kati Basti treatments, I found relief from the pain. Consistent oil application and stretching exercises have helped me manage my back pain effectively, allowing me to lead a more comfortable and active lifestyle without being limited by the pain.

*Kati Basti: a soothing treatment where a large quantity of warm herbalised oil is retained on your lower back to relieve pain, stiffness and inflammation. Now offered as an add-on treatment with Sydney’s Kundalini Spine Therapy

3. Anxiety & Depression: Wrestling with anxiety and depression took a toll on my mental well-being. Embracing Ayurvedic practices such as self-Abhyanga and cultivating a strong mind-body connection have been instrumental in reducing my anxiety levels and alleviating my depression. Ayurveda has not only provided me with tools to manage my mental health but also helped me discover my purpose and find inner peace.

4. Body Confidence: Struggling with body dysmorphia and negative self-image, I turned to Ayurveda for support. By incorporating rejuvenating Ayurvedic treatments, self-Abhyanga practices, and developing a newfound appreciation for my body as a vital vessel that supports me, I have been able to overcome harmful thoughts and embrace self-love and acceptance. Ayurveda's approach to holistic health has empowered me to see my body as a friend and ally in my journey towards overall well-being.

5. Mind-Body Connection: Through my Ayurveda journey, I have learned the importance of nurturing the mind-body connection. Ayurveda's emphasis on holistic health and balance has guided me towards a deeper understanding of how interconnected our physical and mental well-being truly are. By incorporating Ayurvedic principles into my daily life, I have been able to cultivate a harmonious relationship between my mind and body, leading to a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Overall, Ayurveda medicine has been a guiding light on my path to healing and self-discovery. By embracing its holistic approach to health and well-being, I have experienced profound transformations in both my physical health and mental outlook. Through Ayurveda, I have not only overcome physical ailments and mental struggles but have also discovered a deeper connection to myself and the world around me.
